The Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger) is the largest species of tree squirrel in North America. Typically characterized by its reddish-brown or orange-brown fur and a lighter-colored underside, this species is more commonly found in open woodlands and rural areas. Fox Squirrels are known for their large size and distinctive bushy tails. They are less agile than the Eastern Gray Squirrel but are excellent climbers and are often seen foraging for nuts and seeds.
