The Red Squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) is a small and energetic species commonly found in coniferous forests across North America. Characterized by its reddish coat, white underbelly, and small size, the Red Squirrel is often seen dashing up trees and storing food for the winter. Unlike the Eastern Gray Squirrel, Red Squirrels are territorial and are known to defend their food caches aggressively. They primarily feed on pine seeds, but will also eat berries and fungi when available.
