The Northern Flying Squirrel (Glaucomys sabrinus) is a nocturnal species native to the boreal forests of North America. Similar to the Southern Flying Squirrel, it uses a skin membrane to glide between trees, which aids in foraging and escaping predators. The Northern Flying Squirrel is typically found in older, dense forests and feeds primarily on nuts, seeds, fungi, and even insects. It is highly dependent on tree cavities for nesting and is more rare to observe than its southern counterpart.
